The Joshua Tree Astronomy Arts Theater, based at Joshua Tree Lake Campground, has become the place in the desert to have a truly cosmic experience. The theater presents astronomical imagery along with ambient desert music under the night sky, for a uniquely hi-desert star party.
Saturday, June 30, at 8 p.m., is the latest Astronomy Arts Theater presentation - Scorpio Moon - featuring Steve Rushingwind (Native American flute music), and Clive Wright (ambient electronica, guitar, and oud).
The Southern California Desert Video Astronomers project colorful images from highly sensitive video cameras capturing deep sky objects onto large screens for audience viewing. This may be as close to having your own "Hubble" as many of us may get in our lifetime!
The Joshua Tree Astronomy Arts Theater asks for a $10 donation. The evenings are a bring your own pretty much everything - seats, refreshments, etc., but you can purchase some refreshments at the camp store.
