On Thursday, October 4, 2012, park search and rescue responded to a report of a visitor being injured. The incident happen at the popular climbing spot called Hall of Horrors, which is located between the Jumbo Rocks and Ryan Campgrounds. At 2:50 p.m., Joshua Tree Park Search and Rescue found a 42-year-old male on a ledge located 50ft above the ground. He was unresponsive after several attempts made by rescuers to resuscitate him.
